
Dr. Tarun Shridhar, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer,
retired in 2019 after a distinguished 35-year career in government, serving both at the state and central levels.
Throughout his tenure, he held diverse portfolios spanning land administration, industries, transport, tourism, environment, and energy.
Notably, his work in the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries sectors
sparked a lifelong passion to drive meaningful growth through policy,
strategy, and advocacy. Though these sectors were often considered
low-priority assignments, he transformed them into opportunities for
lasting impact, earning an honorary doctorate from Guru Angad Dev
Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADV ASU), Ludhiana, post-
retirement.
Post retirement, he was a senior advisor NCDC and thereafter Member
of the Central Administrative Tribunal. He was the Chairman, Fortis
Hospital, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh for a year. Currently, he
is the Director General of the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture.
Dr. Tarun has received numerous accolades, including the Distinguished
Alumni Award from Hindu College, Delhi, Policy Leadership Award for
the Dairy Sector, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from CLFMA and
Agriculture Today Group. He continues to advise stakeholders across
animal agriculture, delivers keynote addresses at major conferences,
contributes over 225 articles to mainstream and technical journals, and
has served as an FAO expert in Fisheries and Aquaculture.
